Amazing find: Avocado Hummus!

Hello again friends!

Today, I wanted to share with you that I found what can only be described as the serendipitous marriage of two glorious foods. Avocado and hummus, brought together by the galaxies because… well… they were just *meant* to be together.

I found it at Semsom, a Lebanese restaurant, with some other pretty awesome Middle Eastern fusion food. They also have standard fare, such as falafel, labneh, and baba ghanoush, which is (surprise, surprise!) pretty delicious too!

Avocado hummus goes amazingly well with falafel, by the way! There can never be too much chickpeas in one’s diet. 🙂

Note: While many falafels are safe, do check with the waitstaff if they have been mixed with wheat flour and/or if they have been fried in contaminated oil.

Falafel, made from chickpeas, is also food suitable for GF-ers!

Check out Semsom’s website, look at their creative menu, and pay them a visit!

Saravana Bhavan in Muscat, Oman!

Dear Friends,

When one is far from the foods that one loves, a beloved and familiar food chain is often the key to one’s heart! A little superficial, I know, but hey.

There is a Saravana Bhavan in Oman! Thanks to a friend who somehow found it, it is now my go-to place for “safe and sure” GF food!

The menu is the same – it’s got all your naturally GF Indian foods!  Everything from the vegetable curries, to the rice dishes, to the dhals, to the desserts! Of course, I had the palak paneer – my all-time favourite (see picture below)! It tasted about exactly the same. Standardisation, while often soul-crushing, can also be welcome when one is in strange lands. 🙂

Pay them a visit! They’re at the Al Khuwair municipality in Muscat. Here’s their TripAdvisor Link.
