The Daily Habit, Bangsar Shopping Centre, KL 15/20 $$

Hi Everyone,

Here’s the first real post of 2015: a café that’s a little unusual but totally fits my style: The Daily Habit. It’s about healthy eating and the staff is generally aware about the needs of gluten-free people. Nestled within the Chi Fitness Gym at Bangsar Shopping Centre, it’s generally quiet–my favourite thing about this café.

The food itself is quite basic–salads, sandwiches, eggs, fruit juices–you get the idea. But they are all made with healthy eaters in mind and that’s great for me! Salads are filling and they don’t stinge on the good stuff, like chia seeds. There are eggs and other standard breakfast fare too, if you’re not into salads. For gluten-free folks, they sometimes offer a buckwheat pancake.

Healthy fruit juices sans sugar. Make sure to ask them to skip the straw!

The salads are generally very good - filling and filled with good stuff!

Besides the standard egg-based breakfast fare, once in awhile, they have buckwheat pancakes. Makes sure to ask them to make it on a clean stove!

They also often have tasty gluten-free desserts, like this chocolate brownie!

They sell some low-guilt desserts as well there. Costs are reasonable for the Bangsar area, with each meal averaging RM20-30. But note: this café has quite limited hours. Check their website or FB site for updates.

Happy New Year 2015!

Happy New Year, folks!

This marks almost three years since I moved back to KL! I have to say that in spite my initial trepidations about being gluten-free in Kuala Lumpur, I realize that I am now pretty much comfortable with going out almost anywhere and have finally developed a reasonable sense of what is good for me and what is likely not to be! 🙂 So while KL is by no means the easiest city to be gluten-free in, it’s certainly possible! If you are new to all this, hang in there! You’ll get the hang of it.

It’s been a tough year for KL and Malaysia in general, but here’s to a hopeful and better 2015.

More exciting blog posts to come this year.

Peace,

Daisy
